[Venture Star]
[Captain's quarters] "Good night martin." Cash said raising his glass as his chief of science smiled and turned to walk out into the corridor. It had been a long night of staying up with his inner circle command crew. Sparrowhawk Rayburn and Alyssa. Martin had managed to outlast everyone. There were things that needed discussion that only the two of them could talk about. Things that had occurred over a year ago almost two now on the planet Ventos. Both bryan and martin when comparing thoughts and notes had managed to put together a great many pieces of the puzzle. How Vorna had known what she did. The warnings she had given to both martin and bryan. There was a lot more going on here then both men realized and it appeared to bryan that it was going to play out over a very long time. The appearance of his doppelganger had solidified it all for him. "A long road ahead." He mumbled as he stood and walked into his bedroom. Standing in front of the mirror on the closet door he pulled his uniform tunic off and tossed it on the bed. He gazed at his chest and the scars that still stood out from the first crossing over. They could have been taken care of but he decided to leave them there as a reminder. With a sigh he turned and sat on the edge of the bed pulling his boots off. They hit the deck with a dull thud one after another. He was very tired and combined with the whiskey george had provided he soon he lay back and after a few moments he was asleep. He went to that place again. The one he could barely remember. The white void on Ventos. He went there often in his dreams. He was there then now before and............. Forever. -------------------- ![]() Captain Bryan Cash CO:USS Venture Star NCC-DX01 "Let's see what she's got." - Cash to Rayburn,Star Trek Venture Star April 2009 |

[Bridge] Striding onto the bridge Bryan was greeted by a flurry of activity. Station work crews set about repairing polishing and fixing everything at the command of the chief engineer george. Having an entire army of engineers at his disposal had caused george to tackle most of the Venture Star's major problems all at once. Fine and well as the girl deserved the special treatment. Sitting in his command chair bryan activated the internal comm and called down to engineering. "How's my ship doing today George?" he asked with a smile on his face. He could hear george in the background yelling at a group of station engineers not to touch something or they would kill us all. "Going as good as can be expected with these station bubba's crawling all over my girl." George yelled again and a volly of yes sirs followed. "So how soon do you figure we can head out again?" Bryan waited for the usual moan from george but was surprised by a quick answer this time. "If we can keep up this level of work and the station engineers don't kill us all we should be good to go in less then a week." Bryan smiled again and clicked the comm on. "Understood keep me apprised of the situation." He knew george wouldn't. But it was always good to at least try to get him to follow the chain of command. Leaning back in his chair he gazed at the viewscreen. Wonder lay ahead. And danger beyond belief. Larry stood in the turbolift with an electronic clipboard tucked under his arm. Just because he was an Ensign did not mean that he was exempt from ordinary mundane tasks like inventory.
Arriving on the bridge, Larry immediately brushed the shapely form of a crewman doing the other way. Naturally, he followed her with his eyes after a few seconds offered a nod of approval. The woman turned in the turbolift doorway to face him. Greene offered a smile, which was not returned and the doors simply closed. Stepping down into the bridge well aside the Captain's chair, he proffered his report. "Armory inventory report for you, sir. We've replaced all missing sidearms, but it's the rechargers that are the problem. The shipment we've got is for an older model weapon and isn't compatible." -------------------- ![]() |

The shipment we've got is for an older model weapon and isn't compatible." Bryan looked over the load outs on the clipboard. Indeed the rechargers were not compatible. "I"m afraid this is something we are going to get a lot of. The systems and equipment on this ship are so new finding replacement parts reliably is often going to be a problem. Industrial replication and manufacturing just hasn't caught up to us yet." Handing the board back to his new chief tactical officer he smiled. "I'll contact Admiral Cash on the station. I'm sure fleet HQ was outfitted with the latest and the best. I'll see if we can manage to requisition what we need from there stores." -------------------- ![]() Captain Bryan Cash CO:USS Venture Star NCC-DX01 "Let's see what she's got." - Cash to Rayburn,Star Trek Venture Star April 2009 |

Standing in line at the boarding queue, Jimmy craned to catch a glimpse of the Venture Star through the viewport. She was state of the art, unlike anything he'd seen while stationed in the Sol System; a beautiful specimen.
And it was his job to make sure she got where she needed to go. "Identification and orders, sir!" someone barked at him. Jimmy turned around. A Bolian petty officer held out his hand expectantly. "Oh, right." Jimmy fished into a side pocket of his duffel bag and produced the documents. The Bolian inspected them, looked at Jimmy's face and then back down at the identification card. "Here." The blue-skinned man said, pulling a chip out of the electronic clipboard he held. "Take it to processing when you're on board. Move along." Jimmy collected his identification and orders and stowed them back in his bag. On board, the line for processing was considerably shorter. Being an officer, albeit the low man on the totem pole, had a few privileges. Soon he had his stateroom assignment. When he arrived at his new home, the few crates he had been permitted to bring on board had already arrived. Jimmy's roommate was not there, probably on the station or on duty elsewhere aboard the Venture Star. Hopefully, they'd meet later. Deciding to unpack later, Jimmy pulled his orders out the bag and heaved his duffel onto the empty bunk. It was time to go the bridge to meet the captain and, more importantly, become acquainted with his new duty station. When he arrived, the bridge was subdued. It would be while in port, Jimmy reminded himself. Instantly, his eyes caught sight of the right-hand station of the command module. He walked up to it, right past the authoritative looking man seated in the captain's chair. "Holy smokes," he said to no one in particular. -------------------- ![]() |

K'allarra exited the turbolift and scanned the bridge with her ice blue eyes, looking for her target. "There you are," she muttered to herself, eying the man and setting her jaw. She knew she was about to make one hell of a first impression on her new CO, that was to be sure. Marching over to the man sitting in the command chair, whom she had not yet bothered to officially report in for duty to yet and she was also on the bridge to take care of that. "I'm Doctor K'allarra P'arrdan, your new Chief Medical Officer," the Caitian woman began in a serious tone before slipping into something a little bit more playful, "that someone in command is overdue for a physical," she continued sweetly. "So, while my new assignment is taking on supplies I think you should make it a point at some point to come to Sickbay... everyone should, that way I can get to know my patients and update medical records at the same time. Plus, the Captain should set a good example." (tag Boss man) -------------------- EF's Resident Kitty Cat

[Bridge - USS Venture Star] "So, while my new assignment is taking on supplies I think you should make it a point at some point to come to Sickbay... everyone should, that way I can get to know my patients and update medical records at the same time. Plus, the Captain should set a good example." Bryan raised an eyebrow to the new medical office and was about to reply when he felt a hand land on his shoulder. "Why yes i do think the commanding officer should set a good example." Bryan turned and saw his uncle smiling down at him. Handing the padd back to Greene he nodded to his uncle. "Correct sir. Doctor i will make sure to schedule that physical as soon as i can." "If you two will pardon us.I need a few moments of the captain's time alone." [Captain's Office] Bryan entered first and sat in one of the chairs in front of his desk while the admiral took up the chair behind the desk. Old habits and all that. "In a few weeks every ship in the fourth fleet will be docked here at the station. For the first time since the forming of Expedition Fleet all of her individual units and commanders will be in one place." Turning the desk top terminal around he activated it and synced it with the stations computer systems. Turning it back around he showed bryan an image of the great barrier. "The great barrier.....i know several elements of Venture Station are studying it at the moment. What does that have to do with the venture star?" Bryan said while wondering just what was going on. "Glad you asked. While the entire fleet is going to be docked here and the Federation is due to ship out on an extended patrol. I want to send you and your crew to the edge of the rift to pick something up for me." turning the terminal back to him he switched the view. "I want you to bring me back this." Turning the terminal back around bryan's eyes widened at what he saw. "Is that what i think it is?" Bryan said in a low whisper. "It is indeed and while i can't let you take the Venture Star out to chase this down i can give you my ship. This is extremely important bryan. If this was to fall into the wrong hands it could be devastating to the entire quadrant. I want you to tractor the item and tow it to a waiting ship in the mutara nebula. " "The Mutara nebula? " Bryan asked not familiar with the name. "It's a new discovery not far from here. Plays hell with sensors perfect place for a clandestine meeting. Do this and you can write your own ticket around here far as i'm concerned Mr.Fleet Captain." The old man stared bryan down and nodded as he could tell his nephew was hooked. "You leave in a few weeks. Oh and i have another matter to ask. Your Science officer Sparrowhawk. We need him for a new project.....somewhere else." -------------------- Admiral George Cash

[Captain's quarters] Bryan looked out at venture station from the quiet of his personal quarters. Turning back to his desk he went through the stack of data slates and clipboards. Picking out the slate with Martin's new orders stung a great deal. He was one of the re assignments that worried Bryan. Hell even George going back to the fleet yards to start leading the way of the next generation didn't bother him as much. There was a bond between them now that he still didn't fully understand. He did know that they story they shared had yet to reach it's conclusion and that they would indeed meet again in the future. It was still so odd like having the entire secret of the universe just in front of you right out of reach. Vorna had told Martin things that bryan hadn't yet been told. There was something missing still.....something important. -------------------- ![]() Captain Bryan Cash CO:USS Venture Star NCC-DX01 "Let's see what she's got." - Cash to Rayburn,Star Trek Venture Star April 2009 |

A soft chitter filled the air soon after, though before Bryan had even a chance to respond, the doors hissed open to reveal the form of Sidorova. The tall, statuesque Russian woman's eyes glaring viciously at the form of Cash. A small vein seemingly tensing on the side of her head as she came to a stop, her arms folding as she seemed to grip a small datapad within her hand in a white knuckled grip.
"You did this, didn't you?" asked the woman in a dark, annoyed tone of voice. -------------------- ![]() QUOTE "Time does not exist. What exists is the moment only" -Leo Tolstoy |

Looking up from his desk he smiled. He set down the data slate he was reading. "Good you finally got your orders!" Leaning back in his chair he produced a new uniform shirt from a drawer in his desk Tossing the new gold shirt to his angry new first officer he made note of the stripes on the arm. "There you go commander. Yes i am responsible. Now before you go and shoot me how about actually trying out the job for a while first?" -------------------- ![]() Captain Bryan Cash CO:USS Venture Star NCC-DX01 "Let's see what she's got." - Cash to Rayburn,Star Trek Venture Star April 2009 |

[USS Venture: Torrel‘s Quarters]
He’d been aboard the Venture Star only a brief time, and still hadn’t come to learn about the new upgrades aboard or what the Venture Star’s crew probably took for granted. The Monitor, his old ship, hadn’t received every single state-of-the-art upgrade to its systems and somehow still managed to get by as being a workhorse of the Fourth Fleet. It was one more thing the Venture Star’s new chief of security would have to get used to, being an old man among younger officers although he couldn’t let them know about his condition at least not in the open anyways. The last thing, the one thing Kevin feared was to be grounded and deemed unfit to serve the very Fleet he’d dedicated his life to. He’d try to keep the condition under wraps, to where the ship’s medical officer only knew about it and would for the life of him try to keep up with the younger officers in the Fleet. Taking the bottle of subscribed heart meds from the nightstand, he allowed two pills to drop into the palm of his hand and summarily popped those in his mouth. The pains in his chest came more frequently or seemed to, perhaps from the stress of transferring to a new ship with a new crew. He‘d drop by Sickbay, pay the chief medical officer a visit to get a refill on the heart meds and with luck keep it under wraps. It didn‘t take long for the heart meds to take effect as the pain became less and he felt more confident about facing the new day. Quickly changing into his duty uniform, Kevin plucked the standard issue phaser from the same nightstand and made sure to grab the bottle of pain meds. Stuffing the bottle into one of the pants’ pockets before turning leaving his quarters, he turned the lights out and stepped out into the corridor. With the door automatically locking behind him, the brightness of the corridor still managed to catch the man off guard before he turned to the nearest turbolift. -------------------- ![]() Lt. Cmdr. [USS Venture Star: Transporter Room]
As a group of new crew members transport onboard the USS Venture Star from Venture Station Ensign Altair Killian stands out from the rest. Not just because she’s the only one not wearing a coloured uniform and in a Nurse's medical uniform but because she’s the only one not with their head high, shoulders back and looking confident. As she steps of the platform she access's one of the many data terminal kiosk's littered across the ship to get a route towards the Medical Bay. As she turns to leave a yeoman smiles at her and the only response she gets is a weak smile and a glance of the eye from Altair. As Altair leaves the door she walks into the Chief Medical Officer and drops her bag and data pad. "Uh...watch where you’re going you clumsy ox..." Looking down and crouching at the floor without even noticing who she has just walked into "Honestly the mentality of some people you’re just another rude idiot...your going to make me late for my medical exam" Collecting her things still without taking the care to see who she just bumped into (Tags - Chief Medical Officer and Anyone who would like to meet a new crew member) |

[USS Federation] "What the hell do you mean it doesn't work!" Yelled cash at the top of his lungs at the three engineers standing meekly before him. It hadn't been that great of a day and now he had to deal with delays at getting his flagship ready. "Sir what we've been trying to tell you is the design is sound. The systems integration just isn't there." Putting his slate down he tried to explain further. "Every system from the sensors down to the matter anti matter reactor is a sound and proven design. Now when you start to combine all these different pieces of equipment together and you just basically connect them all together without any thought as to how they'll perform working together...this happens!" Waving his arms around to showcase the entire ship. Rubbing at his temples cash was truly annoyed. "Son are you telling me this ship was just thrown together? With no thought at all?" He was flabbergasted. "Yes sir, whoever was responsible for declaring this design space worthy committed a terrible act. Everyone aboard could have been killed. It's a testament to the crew and yourself sir that you actually got here to SB-13. The power relay system is a joke. It can' handle more then a few systems operating at the same time. The computer isn't even sentient.....i'm not sure it's even first generation operational. The weapons are over powered and the torpedo launchers arn't even calibrated for rapid fire." shaking his head he sat down in a chair and sighed. "Oh and the shield system isn't fully operational.......it's actually not much more then a deflector system at this point." One of the junior engineers quipped until cash snapped him an angry look. Cash stiffened his back and rubbed at it softly. Walking to behind his desk he sat. "So bottom line can it be fixed and how long?" "If we work round the clock and taken the entire ship back to design." Thinking he frowned "48 months at a minimum and that's without space trails just raw rebuilding." He sighed again. "Get the hell out then and get to work!" Cash shouted and the engineers scrambled and exited the room. Cash sat and brooded. Someone at fleet command and planned all of this. Yet another "event" designed to make the fledgling fleet look bad. The federation looked big and impressive and powerful.......but underneath it was a flying death trap. Sure you could go to warp but forget about scanning while you did so. Want to scan a planet? Go ahead sir I'll just shut down the internal gravity. Maddening! With a sigh he turned on the desktop viewer and looked again at the romulan intel that has come across his desk. He had a standing order for any and all Romulan bits of info to come his way. This bit was extremely interesting. It was a short video of a prisoner transfer on the romulan home world and had an interesting stand out. what appeared to be a human wearing the tattered remains of an old starfleet uniform. George had watched it for hours since first getting it. There was something familiar bout the bearded man in the bad video. Something very familiar. At the ten second mark the human prisoner is pushed from behind by a romulan guard and the human spins around and delivers a flying kick to the romulans chest. Knocking his weapon out of his hands the man tries to grab for it and is stunned. The move was one George knew well. He and his brother had learned it from there own father....... Gazing closely at the screen George whispered a single name "Brandon??" -------------------- Admiral George Cash

[Venture Station] [Fleet HQ] George sat behind his desk and fumed. Who the hell did this punk think he was?!Clearing his throat George spoke again. "I said you pull that damned ship outa mothballs and get her shipped to those coordinates son and you do it now!" "But sir that ship's due for decommission next month. It's base components are due to be installed on another ship!" The young Lt. Seemed to be out of his mind but george pressed on. "You see these rank stripes on my sleeve son! Those mean you listen to what i say and follow my orders! Unless you want to pull sentry duty on delta vega i suggest you snap to and follow my orders son!" The young man sighed and nodded his head. "Aye sir.....i'll have it prepared and sent out asap." The screen flicked off and the twirling federation logo spun silently on the screen. Turning in his chair he activated the big screen behind his desk. He watched as a map of the neutral zone appeared. A small blip moved steadily away From the zone and headed towards SB-13. It wouldn't arrive in the area until the week of the 30th. That still gave him some time to prepare. There was a tension in his chest he wouldn't lie but it wasn't bad tension it felt good. -------------------- Admiral George Cash
